Once upon a time if you wrote a book and dreamed of it being published, you then had the task of sending it off to publishers and literary agents hoping that someone shared your dream. If you were lucky your manuscript would be read and if you were really lucky they would want to talk to you. These days writers are now in the position to self-publish their own books.
To self-publish, you need to:
- Write your book
- Edit your text (there is nothing worse than reading a book full of typos)
- Have you book typeset but a graphic designer
- Have a cover designed
- Have it printed
- Sell your book
Sounds simple, right? Well, it's not quite that easy but it is possible.
Simon Haynes has written a realistic article about process of self-publishing. He discusses the process, printing on demand (POD), ebooks and who should self-publish.
